How to score a deal @ lunch

So, I have never been a huge fan if Smashbox, EXCEPT, every Tuesday and Thursday @ their website they have what they call “Let’s do Lunch”, where they will give you a FULL size item free with the purchase of any other item between 9:00am and 2:00 pm Pacific Standard Time. So being on the East Coast when noon hits, I generally see what’s on offer and have scored some nice values from time to time.

What’s even better is the “Curtain Call” Area. This is the sale area where you can pick up alot of their discontinued and limited edition items for half price. AND……with “Let’s do Lunch” score a freebie AND……they always give a nice sample AND……. (deep breath), if you register for “pretty points” you score even another nice sample!!!

So last year Smashbox had this amazing “Muse” eyeshadow palette with these soft pretty colors but it was $48 so I passed it up. When I checked the offer this past Thursday, I saw the palette was on Curtain Call for $24!!! SCORE!!! So I ordered it, plus got a pretty double ended lipgloss and a nice mascara sample from my “pretty points”. It was delivered today!!! Oh did I forget to mention FREE and FAST shipping too???!

Yeah, so Smashbox is seeing ALOT more love from me!!!

So my Lemmingista’s, want nice makeup at amazing prices with frebies and free shipping?!! Go to Smashbox and then tell me what you get!!! Hmmmm and tomorrow’s Tuesday too!!!

The Cheap Seats. (Online E-tailer Version)

Their is a wonderful online E-tailer of eyeshadows, palettes & MAC Pigments; I was first made aware of them by the wonderful KarlaSugar who promoted them with an online discount code.

I initially purchased 4 pans of shadow, as I had an empty MAC 4 pan palette around and wanted to fill it. The single pans sell for $4.95, so for approx. $20, I filled my palette. Not bad, considering what some cosmetics companies charge for pre-made palettes. The products came well wrapped in a ton of bubble wrap, so there is no chance of crumbling or breakage. I was pleased by the silky texture and pigmentation of their product. I tend to like nuetral shades, and picked Champage, a light golden beige, Warm n Fuzzy, a deep brownish taupe, Bohemia, a bronze, and Cashmere, a reddish brown.

The prices on the site really can’t be beat. A pre-made four pan palette will run you $14.95, which breaks down to $3.73 per pan. Their 15 pan Smokey Eye Palette runs $21.95, which breaks down to $1.46 per pan. If you want to build your own palette, it’ll run you $49.95, however, if you break it down, that is still only $3.33 per pan. The variety of colors is extensive, with something to please everyone.
They also sell MAC pigment samples for $4.25.

The second time I went back, I decided to pick up some of the newer shades. Eden, a pink beige, Twilight, a periwinkle blue with purple flecks , Sex Kitten, a frosty pink, and Happy Ending, a bronzed pink. When my items came, I was not as pleased as I was with my first order. These newer colors contain alot of chunky sparkles and the texture isn’t as smooth as the original formula. The colors are pretty, but a tad too frosty for me.

All in all, though, I will probably go back for some of the older shades, as I did like those very much. StarsMakeuphaven also sells empty palettes and their pans fit MAC & E.L.F. Palettes and vice versa.

Definitely worth a try. And if want to see all their eyeshadow colors swatched, please visit!

So my Lemmingista’s, are you up for some fun and inexpensive goodies??? Let me know!!!

The Cheap Seats (CVS Haulette Version)

So my Lemmingista’s, as you have probably noticed I have been devoid of inspiration as of late. Once again, I have slacked off in my posting of my latest makeup lemmings. Ah well, we start anew with fresh hope for better days! (OK, even I made myself a bit sick on that one).

Today while trawling the CVS when I should have been at the Jiffy Lube getting the oil changed in the company car (Shhhhh), I found these two little gems. I had been hearing about the Maybelline Quads for quite some time. They are supposedly well pigmented and silky and last fairly decently with a primer. So, since I had a $2 coupon with me, I selected this one, as I had been eyeballing it for awhile. The formula is indeed very soft and I advise a light & gentle hand when applying these. Also, the packaging is not the greatest with these.

The Physician’s Formula liners I found just as I was about to leave on a lower shelf. These are one of those products that advertise themselves as being complimentary to a particular eye color. I picked up “for blue eyes”. The three shades it contains are a blue, a brown, and a black. The black supposedly had blue shimmers in it, but I really didn’t see any when swatching it. I do like that they give you 3 color choices with these. The 3 pots probably amount to as much as you’d get in a large pot from a Department store. But you get a variety, which to me is a huge plus.

These were very smooth upon application and after they were “set” did not smudge or rub off easily. In fact , it took a few good rubs with a tissue soaked with makeup remover to get it off. Also, they do include a nice little brush of decent quality. Now, as you know I have a ton of brushes, but I do like when a company just doesn’t assume I just happen to have a brush lying around.

So there you have it, my wee haulette.

Have you tried either of these??? Love them? Hate them??! Let me know, my Lemminista’s!!!!!

Will Spring Never Come??!

We are as about sick of winter here in the Northeast as Dancing with Stars is desperate for decent reality stars! Kate Gosselin??????? WTF!?!?!!

Anyways, as I listen to Rob Thomas’ Smooth on my IPod trying to find inspiration, I thought I’d give you a teeny glimpse of summer color from Lancome.

I am hoping to have some new eyeshadows from a wonderful online E-tailer, StarsMakeupHaven, that I was introduced to by the amazing KarlaSugar by the end if the week.

Somehow this winter weather is messing with my makeup mojo. I hope new summer collections appear soon!

So my Lemmingista’s, how are you dealing with the winter blahs??

MAC ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!

The MAC line of makeup is one of the most coveted and extensive lines of makeup. The colors range from soft and pretty to bold and fierce. There are tons of formulas, products and shades. I once visited a counter where there was myself ( very Caucasian), an Asian woman and an African-American woman, and MAC had something to suit us all!!!

The MAC line comes out with new color collections at least once a month, if not more. The latest collection is the Spring ColorForecast and included plums, ambers, and corals. The items I hauled were from the coral and amber collections.

The Color Me Coral lipstick did not impress. It is a very frosty 60’s coral. When I applied it, I had visions of Twiggy & Mary Quant (read your history of makeup books, kids). This may have to go up on MUA for swap.

The other item was the Color 4 Quad of eyeshadows. Now these are absolutely gorgeous!!!!! The colors are silky and well pigmented. I am so excited to use these with some other items I hauled ( that’s another post, for another day though). I do not regret the purchase one little bit.

The other lipstick is MAC’s “O” lipstick which I was introduced too long ago in the MAC Pro store in Philadelphia. This color in the tube looks nothing like what it does when applied to the lips.
It is an amazing shade. It looks purple in the tube and applies bronzey on the lips. Also, for those ofbus who know our Estee Lauder companies, this color is calle Surprise in Clinique and was called Emperor at one time in the Prescriptives line. A HUGE shout out to my dear friend JoeyBunny if MUA for taking my MAC empties to a counter and getting it and sending it to me!

Lastly, the little pot if what looks like putty, is a MAC paintpot and is supposed to be an excellent eyeshadow base. Haven’t tested it yet, but will let you know, lemmingista’s.

So, have you had a BIG MAC Attack, lately????

The Cheap Seats!!! (with apologies)

My dearest Lemmingista’s, first off I must sincerely apologize for neglecting you (if indeed there are any of you out there reading this blog). We here in the northeast had huge amounts of snow dumped on us and with one thing and another I put the blog on the back burner. So, apologies, and I will try to do better in the future.

Now, on to today’s cheap seats subject. Victoria’s Secret us not a store I tend to patronize, simply because I can not possibly fit into their lingerie. Enough said, you figure it out. However, they do produce a line of makeup and so, for that one reason, I will occasionally suffer myself to walk past the scraps of fabric they call underwear to the wondeful little bins holding their Beauty Rush makeup line.

The best thing about these products is that you can buy one single item for $7, two items for $12, or five items for $20. If you do the math, the price of the items drops by $1, the more you purchase.

They carry a fairly good variety of products. Tonight there was mascara, not only in black, but also in blue and violet. For some reason the brown shade was marked down to $1.75, maybe it just wasn’t too good of a seller. As you can see by the pictures, they also have lip balm. It comes in three shades, a pink, a clear, and the buff (pictured). These have a monty tingle when first applied and definite sparkle. The eyeshadows come in a variety of colors, as you can see I tend to like neutral shades, but they also have very pretty greens, pinks, purples and blues. They also have a huge range of squeeze tube glosses.

Some new items I noticed tonight were glitter eyeliner and cheek stain. The cheek stains came in bright pink, orange and red. However, the formulation looked gel like in formulation and probably is quite sheer. These were packaged in cute little push up tubes similar to deodorant, but cuter, of course.

All in all, you can do a complete face of makeup from this line, from shadow to liner to mascara, cheeks and lips. Itnis a great line for those on a budget or who want a quick beauty “fix”. While the line is aimed at there teen and college age consumers, the line should not be overlooked. Also, if you check a store in a larger market or online, Heidi Klum designs a line of Makeup for the store.

So my dear Lemmingista’s, do you need to indulge in a “Beauty Rush”????

Depotting MAC Eyeshadows

So there is this FANTASTIC makeup Artist on YouTube who goes by the name EnKore and he has an excellent method of depotting MAC eyeshadows to put into palettes.

If you are unaware, MAC stands for Makeup Artist Cosmetics and is an AMAZING brand of makeup. But you used to only be able to buy the pans in Pro Stores to put into palettes. So, most people have a ton of the singles, but want to “depot” them to put them into palettes, to make room for, well, more makeup! DUH!

EnKore’s method is simple, easy & takes only a few inexpensive tools and very little time.

Please go watch his videos on YouTube and happy depotting!!!!’

Blizzard Beauty!

So tonight here in the NorthEast we are experiencing a MAJOR snowstorm. So, of course, I did what everyone does when a snowstorm hits and went to the drugstore to stock up on toilet paper.

Well for some reason the thought of being snowbound for the majority of the weekend inspired me to haul, knowing that I probably would not be going out of the house until Sunday afternoon to work @ Macy’s, if at all.

So these lovely little pretties caught my eye and I just HAD to have them.

The eyeliner was actually recommended to me by my good friend joeybunny of MUA who sometimes writes for PinkSith’s blog and who will, hopefully, one day, do a guest spot here @ the Lemming. Unfortunately my Rite Aid only had Dark Brown and Teal in stock and, despite my previous profession of loving teal eyeliners, when trying any new products, I usually try brown first, because that’s a staple color for me. Joeybunny claims this wears extremely well. All I know is after I swatched it took some serious rubbing with remover to get it off my hand.

The two shadows just attracted me because, basically, I never met a neutral I didn’t like and these are billed as “Satin Finish” which upon swatching proved to be true. There were a variety of other colors, but the snow was coming and I didn’t have time to take a pic for you, my dearest Lemmingista’s.

The gloss was just, well, PINK! I love pink!!! So I grabbed it and made a mad dash for the checkout clutching my goodies and a four pack of Scott Toilet Tissue.

So my dear Lemmingista’s, are you enduring foul weather? What have you hauled lately?? Tell me your Lemmings!! That’s what we’re all about here, RIGHT?
